We waited until closer to the end of our time to get in line because we were having too much fun. Had we headed back a little sooner, maybe we could have beat the crowds! We spent the majority of our time in the ocean, floating on the tubes we brought.

What’s the Weather like at Princess Cays?

If you book a morning tour, you will automatically be given priority boarding tickets for the tender. Bring cash ashore with you as the local vendors only accept payment in US dollars. Guides provide a safety briefing and some interesting facts about stingrays before participants enter the waist-high water. The Coastal Cruise, Snorkel, and Float combines a boat trip on a 35-seater motor vessel with time for snorkeling offshore. Couples will love having their own private escape with a Beach Clamshell rental that includes two comfortable beach chairs for lazing. You can rent equipment or use your own and snorkel right off the beach.

If your ship isn’t at full capacity (as I noticed on my 2021 Carnival Pride cruise during COVID), Sea Breeze Grill might not open due to the lower number of passengers on the island. After a morning of fresh air and activity, a hearty island lunch will be just what you’re looking for. Of course, you can always swim or snorkel from the beach on your own. I always bring my own full-face snorkel mask and gear when I cruise. Equipment rentals are available to book before your cruise as well.

For starters, you will receive priority tendering from your ship to shore, allowing you to make the most of your time on the beach before the island reaches peak crowds later in the day. If you need assistance getting to your bungalow, golf carts will transport passengers from the dock to your private retreat. Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line share the destination as they are both owned by Carnival Corporation, so guests from either cruise line may visit Princess Cays. You will know prior to sailing if you are scheduled to visit Carnival's other private island, Half Moon Cay, or Princess Cays, as it will be clearly indicated on the itinerary when booking.

Despite being an inhabited island, the resort is an oasis surrounded by trees, beaches, and crystal clear water teaming with fish. There are numerous land and water activities to keep cruisers busy during a visit.

Cruisers can help themselves to delicious meats, salads, bread, fruit and desserts. Southern stingrays will quickly come around in search of food. It’s a unique opportunity to stroke their velvety skin as you hand-feed them.

Guests need to take their cruise card/Medallion disk for purchases, such as drinks. There are some shops on the island, which accept cash only as payment. It is advisable to pack everything needed for the day and planned activities since going to the ship is not as easy as simply walking back along the pier. Some areas of the beach are rocky, so water shoes may be of benefit to some, along with sunscreen and insect repellant. There are locker rentals at a price of $10 and towel service is available. Children ages 12 and younger save up to 50 percent on excursions.

Princess Cays sits at the southern tip of Eleuthera, in the Out Islands of the Bahamas. Eleuthera is about 50 miles (80 km) from Nassau and 263 miles (423 km) from Miami.

Stingrays are common in these shallow warm waters and the chance to get up-close is always popular with nature lovers and curious youngsters aged 6 and above. Follow a guide along the back roads while driving your own Dune Buggy to a beautiful pink sand beach. During the winter, the islands have a dry, sunny climate making it the perfect place to escape from wintry weather in North America and Europe. Less-busy beaches may not have lifeguards on duty in all areas. Princess Cays is located in the Bahamas, on the southern end of the island of Eleuthera. In the past, there was usually another straw market set up just past the gate for some added shopping opportunities, but this wasn’t there during my last visit.

If you are traveling with people under the age of 18 that wish to use your bungalow, you will have to reserve one in the main section of the beach. If you want easier beach access, booking a general bungalow here is your best bet. Drier and slightly cooler in late fall and winter, cruisers can expect little rain and sunny skies. Note that sometimes the Bahamas is subject to the occasional cold front.
